About
Hey, where’s all the stuff about the bar exam?
In a secure undisclosed location; don’t you worry about the posts, they’re safe.
The real answer: this used to be my bar exam blog, the safe happy place I could go and dump my fears, anxieties, hopes and dreams about passing the bar exam. Then I passed the bar exam, and decided to take all those lovely posts about the barzam and turn them into a book.
In a high-tech version of “why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free,” I’ve removed that content from this site to encourage you all to buy my [very reasonably priced] book, when it’s ready.
(Gawd, I feel like such a dirty capitalist. Blame the student loan debt.)
I recognize that a lot of you probably know me as “Miracle Eve” and you want the details on how a person can NOT study for 5 out of 6 essay questions on the Bar Exam and still pass. So, if you need some spirit-bolstering and want to take a peek at my journey, feel free to contact me to request access.
Book? You’re writing a book?
I was really prolific during the pre/post-barzam period. In fact, I have over 250 pages of content from that time period. Seems like such a waste to let it rot on my server, never doing a thing for anyone.
Take a look at the marketplace: you’ll find books on the MBE, the Essays, outlines, how to study… but you won’t find a book that shows you what the process is really like… the hours and hours of isolation, the breaking-down to build-up, the low scores and the doubts… that’s the story I want to tell. It’s my story, but my story is part of the bigger fabric of all us law school graduates, barzam takers, new attorney-types. I want to tell our story.
So are you more Jeremy Blachman or Melissa Lafsky?
Neither. I don’t have a publishing contract, nor am I seeking one. I’m an entrepreneur, a writer, a graphic designer, a marketer, and most of all, a big damn control freak. I could never turn a book over to anyone else to hack and chop to pieces. I could never turn the PR and marketing over to a team of overworked staff who could care less about it. I’m a sensitive artist and bursting into tears over routine edits is just not a good look for me.
I’ll be self-publishing this book, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Who are you?
Learn more about me by exploring the various portals on Eve-Marie.com. I’m not good at writing these little “About” blurbs anyway.
Are you an Attorney?
Licensed, yes. Practicing, no. I still fulfill CLE requirements and pay exorbitant fees to the State Bar, so I think I’m more lawyer than not, but you can decide for yourself.
Unless you’re here looking for free legal advice, in which case, no hablo legalese.
Updated to add: As of 12/06, I’m an inactive member of the Bar.
